Dorothy Nadene Snyde passed peacefully from this earth on September 8, 2018.
She was the daughter of Alexander Joseph and Lydia Adrian Chappuis, born July 31, 1930.
She attended Lodi schools and graduated from Lodi High School with the class of 1948. She had a marriage with Fred Snyde Jr. for 34 years. They were blessed with two children; a daughter, Pamela Dee Focacci, and one son, Douglas Dean Snyde.
Cheerful and outgoing, she was actively involved in leadership of Turner School Parents Club, Turner-Ray 4-H Club and Lodi High Ski Club during her children’s school years. She was a past member of Omega Nu Society, Women of the Wilderness, Woodbridge Women’s Golf Association and the San Joaquin Country Historical Society. As an active member of St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church of Lodi, she served on the Vestry, Altar Guild, in the Church office and as a small group facilitator.
Dorothy loved the outdoors and was an avid backpacker. She covered much of the High Sierras with her and her brother’s families. In later years she traveled abroad, visiting China shortly after it was open to the West. Other trips included the Holy Land and for her 70th birthday, she cruised Germany’s Rhine River.
She is survived by her children, Pamela Focacci (Andy), Douglas Snyde (Sharen Lee), and their children Joy Held (Rob), Mathew Focacci (Christina), Thomas Snyde (Savannah) and James Snyde. She also had three great grandsons; Joseph, Jacob and Charles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Louis Alexander Chappuis and her sister Evelyn Hendrickson-Simenton.
At 11:00 am on Saturday, October 6th the family will hold a celebration of life at the Episcopal Church of St. John the Baptist, 1055 South Lower Sacramento road, Lodi, CA 95242. A reception will follow.
